About Eric Steger

My name is Eric Steger and I love math and sharing my passion with others. I have been a math tutor since 1997. Currently, I’m a math tutor at a Silicon Valley community college. In the past, I have been a high school math teacher and college instructor. My degree is a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from UC Davis.

My goal is to help students in high school, middle school, and college learn fundamental math concepts so they can gain a deeper understanding of how to set up and solve problems. The measurement of success is how they succeed in their classes and on standardized tests.

• Experienced - 20+ years of experience tutoring professionally. As a professional tutor at Foothill College since 2010, I have helped hundreds of students

• Patient - there are many ways to solve math problems. If one approach or concept does not work, I usually have another way to help you approach the problem to reach the right solution

• Knowledgeable - with my background of teaching math for more than a decade, I know all the main math topics from middle school through college and how to teach them

• Enthusiastic - I get excited when the student’s eyes light up when they have mastered a new topic or completed a challenging problem

• Empathetic - I struggled with math in high school, so I understand the frustrations that students face and have various ways to help them overcome their challenges
